Planet

Zeitreel embraces the commitment to counter climate change and to protect the planet’s biodiversity.

Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions

We are committed to limit our emissions as part of the mission to contain global warming, in line with the Paris agreement.

To do so, we have defined a strategy for the reduction of 69% of CO2 emissions by 2030, with the ambition to achieve carbon neutrality of direct operations (scopes 1 and 2) by 2040.

Sonae Forest

Regarding the challenges faced by forests in Portugal, we have assumed an active role in a reforestation project.

Zeitreel, together with the remaining companies within Sonae group manages a forest in Portugal, offsetting emissions from our fleet of vehicles, through the forestation of areas devastated by fires and looking to restore biodiversity.

Reduction of plastic in packaging

The responsible use of packaging involves the elimination of all unnecessary applications and, when employed, ensure the use of responsible materials.

In this scope, we subscribed to the Portuguese Plastic Pledge, endorsed by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and, within the Zero Deforestation commitment, we have guaranteed the use of materials from responsible forests, both in primary and secondary packaging.

Packaging optimization

In the Salsa Jeans denim supply chain, we have replaced logistical plastic packaging, used only once, by reusable bands.

Zero Deforestation Commitment

We have embraced the Zero Deforestation commitment, ensuring the responsible sourcing of 100% of raw materials associated with deforestation by 2027.

Specifically, we will trace or certify all applications of cellulosic fibres and cow leather, included in textile manufacturing and footwear, the use of wood in nursery items, and the use of cardboard and paper packaging.

Cardboard and paper with responsible origin certification

For example, the product tags for all of our brands are already made with cardboard sourced from forests with responsible management and with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification.
